KIEV, January 9 (RIA Novosti) - The lawyer of the mother of Heorhiy Gongadze, an investigative journalist killed in 2000, accused judge Irina Hrihoriyeva of being biased and demanded she be recused Monday.
The Kiev Court of Appeals resumed open hearings on the murder case Monday.
Gongadze was kidnapped and murdered in 2000. The circumstances of his death became a national scandal and sparked protests against the government of the then President, Leonid Kuchma. Gongadze's killers have yet to be publicly identified and put on trial, although three men allegedly involved in the murder are now under trial.
