MOSCOW, January 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's leading tourism body said Sunday that it was not yet planning to advise tourists against visiting Turkey, which is currently struggling against the most dangerous form of bird flu.

"Bird flu cases were registered on the Turkish-Iranian border, which is far from the traditional tourist attractions," an official from the Federal Agency for Tourism said.

He also said it was premature to talk about restrictions on Russian travel to Turkey in the midst of fatalities from the H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus.

According to the World Tourism Organization and the World Health Organization, bird flu pandemic is expected in Turkey in April during the spring season of bird migration, the official said.

Senior spokeswoman for the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Turina said earlier that bird flu outbreak in Turkey had not put off Russian tourists from going to the country.

This week, three teenagers died from bird flu in Turkey.

Human bird flu cases have been reported from all over the country. People with symptoms similar to bird flu are applying for medical help.
