PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, December 25, Oksana Guseva) - Voter turnout at Sunday's elections for the legislature of the Chukotka autonomous area in Russia's Far East has passed the required threshold, the local election commission said.

As of 19:00 p.m. local time (7:00 a.m. GMT), 50.5% of registered voters had come to the polls, crossing the electoral threshold of 50%, the commission said.

No serious violations have been registered, the commission said.

The polling stations closed at 20:00 p.m. local time (8:00 a.m. GMT).

Chukotka residents were electing 12 deputies to the local Duma of the fourth convocation in three two-seat constituencies and from party lists.

The parties included pro-Kremlin United Russia and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia.
