Russian figure-skaters win gold, silver at Grand-Prix in Japan

MOSCOW, December 17 (RIA Novosti) - Twice world champions, Tatiana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin won gold medals in the pairs event in the finals of the Figure Skating World Grand Prix in Tokyo Saturday.

The duo had an overall total of 193.60 points.

World champions Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov won the ice dancing competition with 165.72 points.

Twice world champion Irina Slutskaya won silver in women's event. She was defeated by 15-year old Japanese skater Mao Asada, who scored a combined total of 189.62 points to Slutskaya's 181.48.

It was Slutskaya's first loss since the 2004 world championship in March.

Russia's three-time Figure Skating World Champion Yevgeny Plyushchenko had to miss the World Grand Prix after coming down with the flu.
