* The chief executive of Russian energy giant Gazprom visited Turkmenistan to discuss prices and volumes of natural gas imports from the former Soviet republic with its president

* One of China's leading energy companies, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, issued a strongly-worded denial that it was interested in acquiring some non-core assets of embattled Russian oil major Yukos

* The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries decided to maintain its oil production quota at 28 million barrels per day and not propose a possible production increase of two million barrels, an OPEC source said Monday following the cartel's conference in Kuwait

* Belarussian Economics Minister Nikolai Zaichenko said his country's natural gas pipeline operator Beltransgaz and Russian energy giant Gazprom had resumed negotiations to set up a joint venture after an almost year-long suspension over disagreements on the value of Beltransgaz's assets

* An international consortium of oil majors will start geological prospecting work in the Uzbek area of the Aral Sea in March 2006, Uzbek state-owned company Uzbekneftegaz said
