MINSK, December 12 (RIA Novosti) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko approved the forecast of a 7-8.5% growth in his country's GDP in 2006, the Belarusian economic minister said Monday.

"The parameters are very tense and that is why the difference between the low and the high levels of the forecasted GDP growth is 1.5%," Nikolai Zaichenko said.

He said the estimated production volume in 2006 should increase by 6.5-8%, agriculture by 6-8%.

"Today, the country's industry has gained strong momentum, and the capacity of the Russian market, which is the main partner of Belarus, remains high," Zaichenko said.
