YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, December 11 (RIA Novosti, Pyotr Tsyrendorzhiyev) - Five Russian sailors are reported dead following the sinking of a fishing vessel off Russia's South Kuril Islands on the night of December 10-11, the local rescue headquarters said Sunday.
Two others are missing, and another two in a serious condition.
The vessel was swept by high waves at 17:20 Moscow time (14:20 GMT) Saturday off Kunashir Island, near Japan. There were 15 crewmembers on board the vessel. The survivors reached the shore on motor boats.
