MOSCOW, December 7 (RIA Novosti)

Below is a summary of the main military-related events in Russia, the CIS and neighboring countries on December 7, 2005

* Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said the following:

- the Russia-Iran deal on deliveries of TOR-M1 air defense missile systems is absolutely legitimate

- India has not yet replied to a Russian proposal to sell Tu-22M3 (NATO designation Backfire C) strategic bombers instead of leasing them

- Russia will make the relevant conclusions if it sees that certain countries do not observe the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (commenting on a recent agreement on deployment of four U.S. bases in Romania)

- the Defense Ministry is developing a new remuneration system for civilian personnel of the armed forces and considering raising salaries

* The first deputy general director of major Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi holding Boris Bregman said at the opening of an arms show in Malaysia that Russia and Thailand were working on a deal to deliver up to 16 fighters with variable thrust vector engines

* The Estonian military has accused a Russian AN-12 military transport plane of violating the country's airspace
