Chechen warlord's accomplices sentenced

MOSCOW, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Supreme Court of the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya has sentenced four henchmen of late Chechen warlord Aslan Maskhadov to five and a half to 15 years in prison, a deputy court chairman said Thursday.

Isa Jabrailov said Vakhit Murdashev, convicted of organizing terrorist attacks on Chechen towns on Maskhadov's orders, have been sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Viskhan Khajimuratov, Iskandarbek Yusupov and Iles Iriskhanov have been given seven, six and five and a half years, respectively.

The four men were arrested in a special operation conducted by law enforcement agencies in the village of Tolstoy-Yurt March 8. Murdashev and Khajimuratov were being held in a reinforced underground cellar and Maskhadov was found dead.
