MOSCOW, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova failed Saturday to advance to WTA Tour finals in Los Angeles. Sharapova, who looked tired and committed a number of mistakes, lost in a semifinals match to Amelie Mauresmo of France 6-7, 3-6.
The Russian player, whose current ranking remains at #3, will take a long break and be back in action on December 21st, as she will depart on her tennis tour of Japan.
Sharapova's 1st WTA event of 2006 will be at the Gold Coast tournament in Australia, which starts on January 2nd.
