NALCHIK, November 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Deputy Prosecutor General has confirmed the presence of a former prisoner of the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo Bay among those arrested in the October 13 attack on Nalchik, a city in the North Caucasus.

Nikolai Shepel said investigators had enough evidence to prove the guilt of the suspect, Rasul Kudayev. "First of all, there is his own confession and the testimony of five witnesses, who said he led the militant group that assaulted the Interior Ministry's health facility and the presidential cottage."

On October 13, as many as 200 militants attacked administrative buildings in Nalchik. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, 35 law-enforcement officers and 12 civilians were killed. The Russian Interior Ministry said that during the two days of fighting that ensued, 91 militants were killed and 36 captured.
