PARIS, November 8 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Nizamutdinov) - The European Court of Human Rights ruled Tuesday that the Ukrainian government must pay 100,000 euros to the wife of Ukrainian journalist Heorhiy Gongadze, who was kidnapped and murdered in 2000.

Miroslava Gongadze claimed that the government had not taken all the necessary measures to protect the journalist's life and had subsequently failed to conduct a proper investigation into the murder.

The court upheld the charges, ruling that the Ukrainian government had violated three articles of the European Convention of Human Rights.
