* A militant wanted for attacking policemen in Chechnya was killed in Daghestan after putting up armed resistance to officers trying to apprehend him

* An Interior Ministry serviceman was killed when an explosive device went off in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya

* A cache with a large amount of explosives was discovered in the town of Argun in central Chechnya

* A resident of the Russian republic of North Ossetia surrendered about 90 kilograms of explosives he had kept for 13 years to police

* A cash desk of a local education department was robbed in Daghestan. A total of 2.5 million rubles (almost $90,000) for teachers' wages was stolen

* During the funeral of a policeman killed Wednesday, an explosive device went off at a cemetery in the Russian republic of Ingushetia. No one was hurt

* Presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District Dmitry Kozak said despite huge budget investment in the Federation members in the south, the regions were still lagging behind other Russian regions

* Two law enforcers were shot dead in Ingushetia
