VOLGOGRAD, October 29 (RIA Novosti, Irina Ilicheva) - A total of 74 children were hospitalized with possible intestinal infection in Volgograd, a city in European Russia's southeast 600 miles from Moscow, city hospital officials said Saturday.
The children were hospitalized in stable condition, Hospital No. 1 authorities said.
Doctors do not rule out that their number could increase. All children go to a school in the city's Sovetsky district.
Fifty children were taken to the hospital last night. They said they had had salad and pilaf at the school canteen.
Doctors believe it is a case of food poisoning, but the final diagnosis will be made in two days.
