MURMANSK, October 28 (RIA Novosti) - The head of the Arkhangelsk trawler base in Russia's Arctic, the home of the Kapitan Gorbachev ship that was detained in Norwegian territorial waters, said Friday he hoped the ship would be released soon.

Yury Nikulin said the ship's owners had paid bail and were waiting for confirmation that the money had been received.

The ship, along with another vessel, the Dmitry Pokramovich, was detained off Medvezhy Island in the Barents Sea on charges of unauthorized fish reloading. The Dmitry Pokramovich was released Friday upon receipt of bail.

The owners of both ships were given the choice of either paying a fine, after which the Norwegian authorities would drop the case, or paying a bail fee, which would be held until the case went to court. The court is expected to hear the case in the beginning of January and will decide whether the owners must pay the full sum.

Nikulin said the owners of the Kapitan Gorbachev would contest the fine in a court hearing to be held in Norway.
