MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and Norwegian foreign ministers have discussed the Elektron trawler scandal over the phone, the Russian foreign ministry said Wednesday.
Sergei Lavrov and Jonas Gahr Store decided to continue working on improvements to current laws, to take measures to control fishing, and to hold consultations on the problem in the near future.
The Elektron trawler was detained by the Norwegian Coast Guard in the Barents Sea on October 15 for alleged fishing violations in Norwegian protected waters, and began to follow authorities to port as ordered. However, the trawler changed course on October 16, and headed for Russian waters with two Norwegian inspectors on board.
