MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Mikhail Yuzhny advanced Thursday to the quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup, Russia's premier tennis tournament, after defeating American Paul Goldstein 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Yuzhny will play his fellow Russian Dmitry Tursunov, who earlier today defeated Italy's Filippo Volandri.
At a news conference following the match, Yuzhny said he had fought with himself during the match rather than with his opponent. "I was creating problems and had to settle them myself."
Speaking about his next opponent in the $1 million tournament, Yuzhny said Tursunov would have a psychological edge. "It will be psychologically easier for him to play against me rather than Goldstein," he said. "But I'd prefer not to speak about tomorrow's match."
