ASTANA, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - Kazakhstan has banned exports of gasoline and diesel fuel until the end of 2005, the country's government said Tuesday.

"These measures are being taken in order to create the necessary volumes of gasoline and diesel fuel for the country's economy," the government's news service said.

Kazakh Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Vladimir Shkolnik said the country's oil refineries would not be allowed to sell gasoline abroad, where prices for fuels and lubricants are much higher.

The Energy Ministry said gasoline exports from Kazakhstan in September 2005 were four times greater than in September 2004.
