MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow hopes that Britain will extradite two men wanted in Russia for serious crimes, a Kremlin source said in the run-up to talks between the Russian and British leaders on Wednesday.

Both Akhmed Zakayev, who is known as the Chechen militants' envoy, and tycoon Boris Berezovsky have been granted political asylum in Britain, but Russia has charged them with terrorism and fraud respectively. Despite numerous requests, the British courts have not extradited either man.

"I do not want to sound overly optimistic, but I think after the terrorist attacks in London the British had a chance to reconsider some of their positions, which did not previously coincide with ours, and to make certain corrections in their approach," the source said.

The Kremlin is eager to use this opportunity and hold "a serious discussion" on the subject in London, the source added.
