NEW YORK, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - The current level of terrorist threat requires that the international community avoid double standards on terrorism due to geopolitical reasons, the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

After a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, India, and China, Mikhail Kamynin said that UN Security Council reform should increase the organization's capability to address new challenges and threats.

The ministers agreed to step up joint efforts on an early signing of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, along with developing interaction on the fight against terrorism within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The ministers said they hoped India, a new observer in the SCO (comprising Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan as permanent members, and Mongolia, Pakistan, Iran, and India as observers), would contribute to the integration process in Eurasia.

According to the spokesman, the meeting showcased a common approach to current international issues, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Central Asia, and the North Korean nuclear problem.
