MOSCOW, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - Seven Russian warplanes did not violate the air space of any country, including Estonia, during the September 15 flight from the Leningrad region to Kaliningrad, the Defense Ministry said Saturday.

The flight route crossed only neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, the ministry added.

"The planes did not turn on transponders (devices transmitting flight information to ground services) because this demand is not compulsory for warplanes flying above neutral waters, according to the international legislation," the ministry said.

The General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces accused the Russian Air Force Friday of breaking flight rules and threatening security of civil planes.
