MOSCOW, September 16 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow Arbitration Court has suspended hearings on the Yuganskneftegaz oil company's appeal against the 2001 back tax bill imposed by tax authorities.
The court said Friday that in order to consider the legality of the 2001 tax claims against Yugansk, it needed to identify the market prices of oil that year.
A former core production unit of the oil giant Yukos, Yugansk is facing a $2.4 billion claim for unpaid taxes in 2001. Tax authorities are also demanding that the company pay $1 billion in back taxes for 2002, $318 million for 1999, and $1.2 billion for 2003.
