BERLIN, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian ships will go to the Mediterranean before January 2006 to take part in the NATO operation Active Endeavor, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said at a news conference in Berlin Wednesday.
"I think our ships will be regularly based in Italy. Our sailors have been frequent guests there lately and feel comfortable there," the minister said.
Ivanov said he had informed his partners during a Russia-NATO Council session about Russia's plans to participate in the operation.
