BERLIN, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and NATO will conduct joint exercises of special forces and military-transport aviation in 2006, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Wednesday.
"Joint Russia-NATO military-transport aviation maneuvers are planned for next year," he said. "The Special Forces will also conduct exercises for the first time."
He added that many NATO countries were interested in cooperation in military-transport aviation. "This cooperation not only has peacekeeping and military purposes but also aims at natural disaster relief," Ivanov said.
"Russia and NATO are also conducting the first anti-terrorist experiment on information exchange on air space and air traffic control on the Russian-Polish border," the minister said.
