GROZNY, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - Severny airport in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, will resume regular operations by the end of October, Chechen President Alu Alkhanov said Wednesday.

The airport has not worked regularly since the end of 1994, when Russian troops bombed it in the first Chechen campaign.

Chechnya has all the necessary conditions for humanitarian work to be carried out, and for humanitarian workers to travel directly into the republic, he said. "Cargo and passenger railway services have been running for several years, and by the end of October the airport in Grozny will resume operations," Alkhanov added.

This year, $528.54 million of federal budget funds were allocated for the reconstruction process in Chechnya, including financial compensation to locals for destroyed housing and private property, he said.
