MOSCOW, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - One of the founders of the advertising business in Russia has died of cancer, a Russian radio station reported Tuesday.
Video International President Yury Zapol was said to have achieved success in advertising in Russia because he was a chess player.
Born August 22, 1956 in Moscow, Zapol graduated from the engineer-construction institute, working as general director of the Radio i Televideniye (radio and television) company since 1990. From 1992 to 1995 he was general director of the Video International producing company. In 1995, he became president of the Video International group of companies.
Zapol was the founder and president of the Russian Advertising Academy and vice-president of the Association of Russia's Communications Agencies.
