MOSCOW, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Deputy Prosecutor General Sergei Fridinsky said a senior Education Ministry official should be held accountable for unlawfully extending the accreditation of foreign child adoption agencies operating in Russia.

A recent inquiry found that Sergei Apatenko, head of the ministry's department of education and child welfare policies, extended the accreditation of 31 foreign agencies suspected of arranging illegal adoptions, Fridinsky said in a letter to Education Minister Andrei Fursenko.
