MOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russian parliamentarians have called on their colleagues in the antiterrorism coalition countries to coordinate efforts in the development of national and international measures to counteract extremism and terrorism.
The relevant resolution was adopted by the Russian parliament's lower chamber, the State Duma, on Friday.
Speaking about double standards in the fight against terrorism, the parliamentarians said any outward show of humanity, or attempts to understand and justify monstrous terrorist acts, as well as any intrigues within the antiterrorism coalition, amounted to another victory for the terrorists and a chance to summon more people to their banners.
The Duma warned against double standards in the fight against terrorism, saying that terrorists must not be divided into "good" or "bad".
"The acts of those capable of cold-bloodedly shooting children and carrying out terrorist atrocities against peaceful citizens cannot be justified," the resolution said.
The coordinated efforts of all antiterrorism coalition members will ensure that the fight against terrorism is effective, the parliamentarians said.
They said Russia had repeatedly asked the British authorities to extradite the emissary of terrorists in Chechnya, Akhmat Zakayev. "Unfortunately, our request has still not been heard," they said.
Terrorism cannot be fought single-handedly, the resolution said. "Pursuing al-Qaeda terrorists and at the same time being lenient toward representatives from its 'Chechen cell' means leaving at large a dangerous enemy capable of using all the possibilities of the democratic system against the security and lives of both Russian and British citizens," the resolution said.
