KIEV, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and ex-premier Yuliya Tymoshenko cannot make complementary decisions that would be acceptable for Ukraine, the country's first president after independence said Friday.

Leonid Kravchuk, who is also a member of parliament from the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine, said in an interview with Den, a leading Ukrainian daily: "They cannot act alike, think alike or make decisions that would complement one another in content, character and, above all, that would be acceptable for Ukraine."

According to Kravchuk, Yushchenko and Tymoshenko not only differ in character, but in outlook as well.

"Tymoshenko is an extremely well-trained and a pure pragmatist," the ex-president said.

This was due to her experience working in the Unified Energy Systems under Pavel Lazarenko, he continued, who taught Tymoshenko to take "absolutely accurate steps". Kravchenko added that Tymoshenko knew how to take such steps.

"Although it is possible to learn a company's management techniques, Ukraine is not a company," Kravchuk said. "But she [Tymoshenko] applied UES methods to Ukraine."

The former president did not agree with a common opinion that Tymoshenko was a socialist. "She is not a socialist, she is just a company manager who tried to apply her experience to Ukraine, which is dangerous," he said.

Kravchuk said that her fiery temper and self-confidence magnified that danger. "However, I must give her credit that she is quick to gain insight into a problem," he added.

"That is why she and Yushchenko are different people," Kravshuk concluded.

Yushchenko dismissed the entire government on Thursday.
