MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - Speaker of the lower house Boris Gryzlov is meeting with his colleagues on the sidelines of the Second World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments currently held in New York, lower house officials said Wednesday.

According to officials in the State Duma, Gryzlov discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation with his Lithuanian counterpart Arturas Paulauskas.

Gryzlov said inter-parliamentary ties were "an essential factor in consolidating good-neighborly relations." He also said members of parliament should resume full dialogue.

"After Lithuania joined the European Union, a series of issues, namely, cargo transit, remained unsolved. I think more active inter-parliamentary ties, including those between sectoral committees, would make it possible to resolve these issues," he said.

The Duma speaker also accepted the invitation of his Lithuanian counterpart to visit Lithuania.

Gryzlov also met Speaker of Mongolia's parliament Tsendiin Nyamdorj.

The parliamentary speakers said the Russian and Mongolian presidents' meeting at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Kazakh capital of Astana in July 2006 heavily contributed to bilateral relations.
