MAKHACHKALA, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - An unarmored car transporting $2.5 million in cash was attacked in Makhachkala, the capital of the Russian North Caucasus republic of Daghestan, Wednesday, resulting in the death of one of the assailants, Daghestani police reported today.
The camouflaged attackers failed to seize the money. The three of them abandoned their car, and escaped in another.
The police said they were wounded. The driver, the cashier and two security guards were not injured, but a bystander sustained a gutter wound in the head.
