Russia cuts crude sugar import tax

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - The economics ministry said Tuesday Russia was reducing the import duty on crude sugar imports from $164 to $140 per metric ton starting from October 1.

The move was due to a decline in sugar prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The new rate was calculated based on the average market price of crude sugar over the last three months (June-August), the ministry said.
