ST. PETERSBURG, September 6 (RIA Novosti, Olga Vtorova)-Peterhoff, the former summer residence of tsars outside St. Petersburg, is holding a week of celebrations to mark its tercentenary.

The St. Petersburg administration said that the events at the palace, which is known as the Russian Versailles for its wonderful fountains, would start on Tuesday with a courtyard festival. A spokesman also said that a local history exhibition would open in the regional library.

The celebrations will include the opening of a plaque in honor of Peterhoff's news status as an academic center and St. Petersburg University will also host an international festival of choreography, Viva Peterhoff!

Moreover, the celebrations in Peterhoff itself will include a performance of a carillon, a musical instrument consisting of 51 bells that was made by Dutch experts.

The main celebrations will be held on Saturday, when the palace's unique fountains are turned on.
