First Russian-Belarusian economic forum to open in Minsk

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - The first Russian-Belarusian economic forum will open in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, on Tuesday.

The permanent committee of the Russia-Belarus Union State said that the four-day event would include a Russian exhibition, seminars, conferences on trade and economic cooperation, as well as meetings dedicated to innovation, taxation, pricing and customs policy of the Union State.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the prime ministers of Belarus and Russia, Sergei Sidorksy and Mikhail Fradkov, are expected to attend the forum. Delegations from 20 Russian and six Belarusian regions will also take part in the event. In all, the committee said 2,000 delegates would arrive in Minsk.

The forum will open with the Russian National Exhibition, which aims to promote Russian exports and services in the Belarusian market, and to develop trade and economic contacts and investment cooperation between Russia and Belarus.
