TBILISI, September 5 (RIA Novosti, Marina Kvaratskhelia) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has filed a note of protest with the Georgian Foreign Ministry over the Sept. 3 attack on journalists from the Russian television station NTV.

"The incident gives further evidence of an increasing number of crimes in Georgia, committed against foreign citizens," the Russian embassy in the Georgian capital said in a statement. It cautioned Russians against visiting Georgia without reliable partners in the country.

The embassy is demanding that immediate steps be taken to punish those guilty and compensate for moral damage and material losses.

The Russian journalists were attacked by a gang and the head of a local executive body in the Georgian town of Napaureli, the embassy said.

The attack resulted in bodily injuries and equipment damage.
