GROZNY, August 13 (RIA Novosti) - Chechen President Alu Alkhanov has pledged to examine the case of each officer involved in the special operation in Borozdinovskaya (northwest Chechnya) on 4 June 2005.

As a result of the operation, one local resident was killed, 11 went missing, and four houses were destroyed.

It is still unclear what happened to them, Alkhanov said.

"The actions of each officer involved in the military and police operation in Borozdinovskaya at the beginning of June will be examined, and the guilt of each person involved will be assessed, and to what degree they overreached their authority," Alkhanov told journalists Saturday.

Military prosecutor Maxim Toporikov reported to the president on the progress of criminal investigations following the Borozdinovskaya events.

The president also said that Chechnya is ready to hold parliamentary elections this year. "The republic has already left the stage of military activity, and there are not sufficient [militant] forces left in Chechnya to significantly destabilize the situation."
