VLADIVOSTOK, August (RIA Novosti, Veronika Perminova) - The Friendship Train traveling from Chechnya arrived Saturday at Blagoveshensk (Russia's Far East), the local administration reported.

A Chechen delegation of over 70 was on the train, consisting of artists, journalists, and representatives of Chechen authorities.

The Friendship Train will remain at Blagoveshensk until August 14. On Saturday an official meeting will be held between the Chechen delegation and representatives from Amur Region administration. An agreement is expected to be signed following the meeting between the Chechen Republic and the Amur Region.

The goal of the Friendship Train program is to help familiarize the people in the Russian regions with the traditions and culture of the Chechen people, and to inform them of peaceful developments in the republic.

The Friendship Train has so far stopped at Sakhalin, Maritime Territory, the Khabarovsk Region, and the Jewish Autonomous Region. Through the program, agreements have been signed on cooperation between the Chechen Republic and the Far East regions. These agreements cover political, cultural, scientific and technical, legal, and economic cooperation.
