David Sanakoyev has written on the subject to UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Manfred Nowak, the head of the OSCE Mission Ambassador Roy Reeve, and the head of the International Red Cross Committee in Georgia Dr Paul Kastell.
The committee said 15 South Ossetian citizens are currently being held in Georgian prisons. "Information from Georgia on the circumstances of the arrest and the accusations is usually contradictory. Moreover, the information always comes after a long delay, so it is impossible to assess situations and take proper measures in time," the committee said.
On Thursday South Ossetian Foreign Minister Murad Dzhioyev sent a letter to Russian Ambassador to Georgia Vladimir Chkhikvishvili asking for support in the campaign to release two arrested Ossetians, Zasseyev and Kochiyev, who are accused of a terrorist attack in Gori, Georgia.
On February 1 2005, a car, which was parked at a police station loaded with 70 kg of plastic explosives and hexogen, blew up, killing three policemen and injuring 20 people.
