Bank deposits grow 3.4% in June, 17.2% this year

MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - Bank deposits in Russia increased 3.4% in June, and 17.2% this year, the Central Bank said.

According to reports about deposits of Russian credit organizations that the Central Bank released Friday, time and savings deposits and foreign currency deposits were worth nearly 2,872 billion rubles($100.82 billion) of July 1, 2005, including 1.09 trillion rubles ($38.27 billion) in foreign currency deposits.

As of June 1 and January 1, 2005, these figures totaled 2.777 trillion ($97.49) billionand 2.45 trillion ($86.01 billion) respectively.

In June and in the first six months of this year, the figures increased by 3.4% and 17.2% respectively.

Demand deposits contained 1.449 trillion rubles ($50.87 billion) by July 1, 1.334 trillion rubles by June 1, and 1.277 trillion rubles ($44.83 billion) by January 1.

Initial reports suggest that credit organizations had 807.8 million rubles ($28.36 million) in reserves as of July 1, 662.7 million $23.26 million as of June 1 and 847,418 million ($29.75 million) as of August 1.
