MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian space companies take orders worth $700 million per year, Roscosmos Deputy Head Nikolay Moiseyev said Wednesday.

"We should develop this market, first within the CIS, and then in other nearby countries," he said.

Russia currently controls 7% of the global market for launching space equipment, he said.

"We should increase our share of the satellite communications market, which comprises about 70% of global space services market," he said.

The 2006-2015 federal space program, recently approved by the government, will receive 305 billion rubles ($10.6 billion) of budgeted money.

Approximately another 150 billion rubles ($5.23 billion) will be taken from non-budget sources in the next 10 years.

Moiseyev also said the number of non-military Russian satellites in orbit will increase from 37 to between 70 and 80 during the course of the program.

There are currently more than 800 artificial satellites in orbit, owned by various different countries, he said.
