BUENOS AIRES, July 22 (RIA Novosti, Yury Nikolayev) - Uruguayan Foreign Minister Reinaldo Gargano signed the Beslan Appeal at the Russian Embassy in Montevideo, the country's capital.

The minister said Uruguay advocates increasing efforts and cooperation within the international community to eliminate terrorism.

The Beslan Appeal was adopted by the parliament of North Ossetia-Alania, a republic within the Russian Federation, following the Beslan hostage-taking tragedy in September 2004 that led to 330 deaths, including 132 children. The document calls for an international fight against terrorism and the protection of children from "the evil of the 21st century."
