MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia values Kenya's role in conflict resolution in Africa and especially in Somalia and Sudan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said here Friday.

"We are satisfied with the consolidation of the international consensus on Africa's efforts on the resolution of global problems," Lavrov said after talks with his Kenyan counterpart, Chirau Ali Mwakwere. "Like Russia, Kenya has seen the horrors of terrorism and we agreed to boost efforts against this evil at the bilateral and international level."

He also said the sides decided to promote economic and humanitarian cooperation, discussed the UN Security Council's reform and agreed that this issue required wider accord.

Lavrov said Russian airlines will launch direct flights to Kenya soon to boost working and business exchanges between the two countries.

Mwakwere said he had met with members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs yesterday, achieving a number of agreements.

"The presence of Russian business in Kenya is noticeable," he said. "The Rusmotors company has started supplying KAMAZ trucks and other vehicles to Kenya. I expect other Russian companies to join similar projects."

Mwakwere invited Lavrov to visit Kenya, to which Lavrov said he would be happy to accept the invitation.
