DUSHANBE, June 24 (RIA Novosti) - President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov discussed measures to intensify bilateral military and technical cooperation today, the office of the Tajik president said.
The parties discussed a Russian military base in Tajikistan, cooperation within an integrated CIS air defense system and the training of military personnel for the Tajik army at Russia's military schools.
CIS defense ministers are holding a regular session at the Pugus country residence of the Tajik government to discuss CIS air defense joint exercises, Combat Commonwealth 2005, scheduled for August. The exercises with combat firing will be held at Russia's Ashuluk testing ground in the south of the Volga area.
