URGENT: Putin proposes Russia-NATO project to train anti-drug experts in Afghanistan

MOSCOW, June 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed that a pilot Russia-NATO project be drafted and implemented soon to train experts in efforts to combat drugs in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

"Some practical areas of our potential joint efforts, including efforts to combat drug trafficking, can be made more effective," Putin said at a Kremlin meeting with Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the NATO secretary-general.
