The Russian Embassy in China held a ceremony on Wednesday transferring an address from the Russian president to China's national publishers and readers on the occasion.
Vladimir Putin said this year's 60th anniversary of victory over Nazism was a special holiday for Russians.
"Our people achieved victory with the other nations in the Allied coalition," Putin said, adding the victory was an achievement of people from different ethnic backgrounds and with different religious beliefs.
"The joint struggle against militaristic Japan was one of the most vivid and most heroic pages in history," said Putin.
"I am positive, Russia and China will continue efforts to promote peace and understanding on the planet, which will be based on their long-term relations as partners and strategic allies," said the president.
Audiences in China will be able to read Mikhail Sholokhov's They Fought for Their Country, Boris Gorbatov's The Unbowed, Ivan Leonov's He Was Named a Man from Legend, Konstantin Simonov's The Living and the Dead, and other books in their native language.
