Moscow, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - U.K. Trade and Investment, a British government organization, hopes that Russia will become the main supplier of natural gas to the U.K., Chief Executive Sir Stephen Brown told an oil and gas conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
Sir Stephen said Britain's natural gas imports would increase dramatically in the next few years. Therefore, he said, the U.K. would like to invest more heavily in Russia's oil and natural gas industry. He reminded his audience that Shell and British Petroleum had already put about $13 billion into the Sakhalin II project and the TNK-BP joint venture.
Along with financial investment, Sir Stephen said British companies could also boost the development of Russia's oil and gas sector through expanding technology exchanges.
