MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - With eight European Cups to its credit, the Russian female athletics team has every chance to win in a team competition starting this Friday in Florence, Italy.

The main gold challenger in the long jump is 2004 Olympic silver prize-winner Irina Simagina, who is the only one among the participants to have jumped farther than seven meters this season. European Cup tournaments have brought three gold medals in triple jump to Anna Pyatykh who remains our hope for the coming competition as well.

Yelena Zadorozhnaya's chances in the 3,000 meters run are not easy to estimate because her main challengers have not yet performed this season. Still, her result last year (8.37,65) is better than those of other runners.

In shot putting, Russia's Olga Ryabinkina with her best attempt of 19.36 meters should offer stiff competition to Germany's Nadine Kleinert whose personal record is 19.86 meters.

The Russian females also excel in the high jump, with Tatiana Kivimyagi having shown the best result of the season, in the 200, 400 and 5,000 meters heats and in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the Russian male team, good results can be expected from Alexander Ivanov (javelin throw), Vitaly Shkurlatov (long jump), the Olympic bronze champion Danila Burkeni (triple jump) and Ilya Konovalov (hammer throw).

European Cup competitions are to be held on June 17-19.
