All Kyrgyz problems must be solved within constitutional framework - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - All problems in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia) must be solved without violence within the constitutional framework, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"We are concerned over the events in Bishkek which got out of legal confines again. We are convinced that all problems raised by protesters can and should be solved within the constitutional framework, without any violence and pressure," official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko said.

"We hope common sense will dominate the current situation and a just solution meeting the interests of Kyrgyzstan and its people will be found," he said.

Double standards in monitoring the elections in Kyrgyzstan are inadmissible, he added.

"Moscow believes that attempts to use the notorious double standards in monitoring the Kyrgyz elections are inadmissible and can finally discredit the practice of observing elections by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights," Yakovenko said.

According to him, observers assume special responsibility in connection with the upcoming presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan on July 10. "They should make balanced assessments and avoid careless statements which can be used to destabilize the situation in the country," Yakovenko added.
