VILNIUS, June 16 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Vodo) - Lithuanian Minister of Economy Viktor Uspaskich resigned, representative of his Labor Party faction in the country's parliament Loreta Grauzinene said.

Earlier this day the Lithuanian state commission for official ethics said that Uspaskich had violated the law on combining public and private interests.

According to the commission, Uspaskich abused his ministerial authorities and proposed to set up a joint venture with the Moscow government in favor of his wife's agricultural company Krekenavos agriforma without coordination with the Lithuanian government and Vilnius City Hall.

Grauzinene said that Uspaskich, currently on a business trip to Russia, would send in his resignation soon.

Uspaskich disagrees with the conclusions of the state commission for official ethics and will contest them in court after his status is changed, she added.
