MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - A court hearing a lawsuit brought against McDonald's by a Muscovite who claims she received burns from a split cup of coffee conducted an experiment today.

"The experiment was a purely technical operation," said Maxim Dombrovitsky, the attorney for plaintiff Olga Kuznetsova. "The doors of the McDonald's were measured. Then a person carrying a tray with a cup of coffee exited the building to determine whether the building met safety codes."

However, he refused to comment on the results of the experiment, which was conducted by specialists from the Regional Expertise Agency. "The conclusions must be given by the experts themselves," Dombrovitsky said. "It is too early to speak about them now."

The defense counsel said the court would set the date for future hearings after the experts reached their conclusion.

Dombrovitsky said his client wants compensation for the first and second degree burns she received from the split coffee. Kuznetova wants McDonald's to cover the cost of her treatment, 500 rubles ($18). She is also demanding 100,000 rubles ($3,500) in emotional damages. The incident took place at a McDonald's in Khimki (Moscow region). Dombrovitsky said the front door hit his client's tray, causing her to spill hot coffee on herself.
